Back To School: What’s On in the Summer?

Posted: 21st April 2023

What’s coming up this term?

Summer Term is here! Although it’s not quite brilliant sunshine yet, we look forward to a calendar full of events in the summer term. Connecting with families in-person is an integral part of the Greenfield School experience and we look forward to our community events coming up.

In the Classroom
Book Look Sessions: Current parents are invited to join their child in their classroom for a short period, allowing them to show their families all their hard work.
Early Years Maths Workshops: Parents of Robins and Reception children are invited to join their children in the classroom to gain helpful ways to support their mathematics learning at home.
International Storytelling Sessions: Early Years and Owls children enjoy small group storytelling told by readers in their native tongue – multilingual parents welcomed to participate in this event alongside our staff readers.
Moving Up Morning: Current and incoming children spend time in their September classroom with their new teachers and classmates, whilst parents meet over a cup of coffee.
Open Mornings: Prospective families are invited to spend their morning at Greenfield School and enjoy a child-led tour of our school to discover life at Greenfield.

On the Stage
Greenfield’s Got Talent – the Finale! After six heats, two finalists per year group are voted through by the children and we look forward to enjoying a spectacular show!
Summer Concerts: Every year group has the opportunity to perform in their own production each academic year. In the Summer Term, it’s the turn of Year 1 and Reception children who will wow us with their sunny performances.
Year 6 Production: Their final swansong, there are always a few tears shed as we enjoy our Year 6 children’s final performance and farewell assembly.
Celebration Assemblies: Families are invited to join us celebrating their children’s achievements and their graduation to the next stage of their education.
Prize Giving: Celebrating all the incredible achievements of Year 6 over their time at Greenfield, as well as announcing our new roles of responsibility to Year 5 children as they prepare for their final year at Greenfield.

In the Sun
Father’s Day at Little School: Little School families enjoy the opportunity to connect at this year’s Father’s Day event in the Fledglings playground.
FroGS Family Pyjama Run: Families are invited to join us on the school field for a super Saturday of healthy competition and comraderie.
Sports Day: all year groups (including Little School) participate in a track or field event, with children representing their house. All families welcome to spectate and cheer them on!
Outdoor Cinema Night: Families are invited to join us for an open-air movie experience out in the warm evening sun.
Leaver’s BBQ: A final farewell to our Year 6 children and their families, with a delicious BBQ in our Zen garden.
We look forward to a wonderful final term of the academic year!
