7th February 2025
Dear Greenfield Families,
There has been a real buzz around the school this week, due in great part to the various activities supporting Children’s Mental Health Week. The children were addressed by a parent yoga instructor who taught them various techniques to use when they felt overwhelmed or worried about anything … lots of calm breathing and visualisation in the small hall that afternoon. Our counsellor offered drop-in sessions, Hugo was present for stories and poems to be read (including to one year group in the Forest school), a pair of huge hedgehogs visited and a conga started the whole week off.
This week has flown by: rehearsals have been taking place, a swimming gala was much enjoyed by the
participants (and further ones are being planned), boys’ hockey success at St George’s will live long in the memory of those playing, tag rugby matches were closely fought and the Yr 4s bikeabilitied! Next week are matches or competitions in basketball and football, and more tag Rugby and swimming.
Excitingly our Year 6 students are about to commence their Dragons’ Den project. A Greenfield tradition that I can’t wait to witness and engage with, this initiative has been running for a few years and is described repeatedly as one of the children’s highlights as they leave the school for their Senior schools.
This time next week we will be beginning our half term break but before then, as the days grow longer (and warmer?) and we can enjoy more outdoor time, learning and fun, we host the Children, Smartphones and Apps evening.
After half term there are lots of things planned, including Parents evenings – Mr Gudgeon will write later today. And the FRoGS have asked me to mention the Disco. Please keep an eye out for Classlist communication this Sunday.
I hope that you all have a lovely weekend.
Yours,
M. W. Robinson – Head
