Greenfield is a co-educational day school and nursery for children aged 6 months to 11 years. We are passionate about coeducation and believe that children should have the opportunity to learn, create and exist amongst their peers whoever they may be. We believe there is so much to learn from those who are different from ourselves and that coeducation is the best way to deliver a modern, relevant education to under 11’s.
We are academically non-selective and pride ourselves on our forward-thinking and nurturing approach to education which enables children to achieve their very best.
As the only standalone prep school in Woking, our Senior School preparation is the best in the area and ensures all of our pupils continue to flourish once they leave Greenfield.
We are proudly co-ed and pleased that we are 44% girls and 56% boys (as at Autumn 2023).
We feed to over 30 top independent Senior Schools in the local area. Our pupils have a wide range of strengths, skills, passions and abilities and therefore we do not believe it is right to shoehorn them all into only a few schools. We are passionate to ensure that each individual moves on to the Senior School which is right for them, and this is why our preparation process is second to none.

We do not have a catchment area and so are pleased to welcome pupils from Woking and neighbouring towns and villages. The majority of Greenfield pupils (86%) live in Woking and nearby villages (such as Byfleet, West Byfleet, Pyrford, Send, Pirbright, Bisley and Chobham). We do also have families from Worplesdon, Guildford, Clandon, Horsely, Bagshot, Frimley, Weybridge, Walton and Addlestone.
We have an active PTA; Friends of Greenfield School or, as it is more commonly known, FroGS. All Greenfield families are encouraged to attend FroGS events and get involved in the school community. FroGS seek to develop relationships amongst families and staff, through events that are accessible to all. Events have included cheese and wine night, family Festival of Light, Christmas trail and wreath making, family fun run, outdoor cinema night and picnic, coffee mornings – and much more! They also engage in fundraising activities to provide equipment and facilities in order to support the school and advance pupils’ education.
The largest intake is for Reception (rising 5), but admissions are considered in all year groups, dependent on availability. Children can join year-round and do not need to necessarily wait for the beginning of the school year or beginning of a term.
With the increased cost of living, we know how important value for money is to our families. Greenfield’s all-inclusive fees make us the best value prep school in the area. We have a Transformative Free Place programme aimed at children who would particularly benefit from the opportunities on offer at Greenfield. Places may be considered for children who have had a turbulent start in life and/or would not otherwise be in a position to consider an independent education or perhaps even come across it as a sector before. The parameters for these applications are more stringent than they are with standard bursary policies, meaning that we are only likely to accept children where there is a certain level of financial hardship and social factors involved which mean the child would particularly benefit from the opportunities we could offer them.

We pride ourselves on excellent partnerships with parents and understand the importance of communication around your child’s progress. All staff have direct email addresses which are available to parents and we encourage regular communication. Parents are invited to organise ad-hoc meetings with staff when required and this ensures any concerns or queries are answered promptly and effectively. We also have regular events for parents to visit the school including parents evenings, workshops, seminars, performances and assemblies. This ensures you never miss out on seeing your child’s progress and being fully involved in their education.
We operate a small-group teaching model meaning that for the vast majority of Maths and English lessons, from Reception upwards, the children are split into three and sometimes four of five groups depending on the needs of the cohort. We do not “set” but have fluid ability groupings to allow our teachers to deliver the lesson that the children in their group need at that time, for that subject and for that topic. This means that children may receive Maths or English lessons in groups ranging between around 8-15 pupils. Our form groups tend to range between 20 and 24, meaning the children benefit from dynamic interactions in subjects such as Music, Drama and PE.
The school day begins at 08:15 with an early drop-off option available from 08:00 free of charge. The school day finishes at 15:30 in Reception and 15:40 in Year 1 to 6. Additional wraparound care is available 07:30 to 18:00 as outlined in the FAQ about wraparound care and clubs.
In Little School, the sessions are 07:30-13:00 and 13:00-18:00.
We understand the demands of working parents, and therefore we are pleased to offer wraparound care from 07:30-18:00 every day for those attending on a term time basis. This includes the options of having breakfast and tea on site, as well as time for the older children to complete their homework at school. From 15:40-16:30, there are a large number of clubs on offer for the children across all age groups including Cross Country, Archery, Astronomy, Orchestra, Ukulele and over 40+ more. A selection of clubs are also available during lunchbreak such as Chess, Ballet, Tap Dancing and Hockey.
